Voices of the West, 02-18-17

Today’s program is a tribute to the late Bob Shelton, who took over the lease of Old Tucson from Pima County and turned it into the Number Two spot in the U.S. for filming Western movies and western television programs. See the story here. Franzi is on the phone for this program. Bunker de France is in the studio. They talk first with Scott Dyke, a noted Wyatt Earp historian about one of Scott’s other favorite figures–Gen. George Custer. Scott recently gave a talk about Custer that attracted more than 400 people. Following the break, Rich Moret is on the phone to talk about Bob Shelton and Old Tucson. Rich was a personal friend of Bob’s for many years. Also on the phone is Hollywood insider Todd Roberts to share his stories about Old Tucson.

Galaxy Press, John Goodwin, 10/17/26

John Goodwin of Galaxy Press joins us to talk about L. Ron Hubbard westerns. There were more that 30 that he wrote starting in the late 1930s. Galaxy Press also brings to life those westerns via their Western Theater.
